Plumber Weston

Rusted galvanised water services are the Weston plumber problem that sets this old town apart, with clay drains failing close behind. Weston sits beside Kurri Kurri, and Kurri Kurri Plumbing Co covers it on the same run for burst pipes, blocked drains, hot water and gas, with the price set before work begins.

A Colliery Town's Pipes, a Century On

Born beside the Hebburn pits

Weston began life in 1902 as "Geordietown", and a hundred houses stood there by 1904. Walk the grid around Station Street and Cessnock Road today and it is still a mining town from the early 1900s, with some mid-century homes added and very little built since. The plumbing beneath it reads the same way.

Galvanised steel, rusted through

Water services from the Hebburn years survive here in worse shape than almost anywhere else in the district, some of them corroded until barely a shell remains. Brown water and dropping pressure are the usual first signs, and a full repipe is often the honest answer.

Clay drains on shifting ground

The earthenware sewers that went in when the pits opened have taken a century of reactive-clay ground movement, and veteran backyard trees follow the moisture into the failed joints. The last census counted 1,457 dwellings, and a large share of them still drain through that original pipe.

Flat ground, slow gullies

Few towns in the LGA sit lower, average rainfall runs to 804 millimetres a year, and hard falls back up the old street gullies quickly. Down near the soccer ground at Weston Bears Park, the flats hold water long after the sky clears.

Where the Work Starts on Cessnock Road

The four main branches of the run, each with its own local fault line:

Emergency Plumbing

original services that let go with no warning, usually where the threads have corroded, and cylinders that quit on frosty mornings. Emergency plumber callouts

Blocked Drains

salt-glazed pipe whose joints give out first, snagging solids until the whole line chokes. Drain clearing and camera checks

Hot Water

homes held for the long haul, where a cylinder usually gets swapped only once it quits, and plenty here are due. Hot water repairs and replacements

Gas Fitting

mining-era gas lines carry fittings that stopped being manufactured years ago, which complicates appliance swaps. Gas work and leak detection

Questions From the Town

Do the old galvanised pipes in this town need replacing?

If the water runs brown, pressure drops across the whole house or the service has let go at a rusted thread, the galvanised line is generally done. We test it first, then quote the repipe at a fixed figure before the ground opens.

Does a call-out to Weston cost anything?

It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours). The fixed price is named before we pick up a tool, and the repair carries our 365-day warranty on all work.
